My Annoying Fan

I just reformatted my harddrive. It's always a nice feeling to have a fresh start. Things run faster, files are less cluttered and more organized, programs that you've been wanting to personalize you finally find the chance to sit down and fix the way you want during the reinstall.

Of course, it's not all fun and games. It takes a while to format so many GB of storage. The more files you've accumulated over the years, the harder it seems to be to get rid of them. So you're stuck sitting there thinking "Ug . . . when will this end? When can I just use my computer?" But in the end, your perseverance pays off.

Starting to sound like a life lesson? That's not a coincidence.

My particular computer has a very loud processor fan. Does a good job of cooling down my work-horse of a processor, but there's just no way you can get to sleep when it's in your room and at full power. Reformatting won't help that at all, of course. Except maybe it'll allow my computer to work more efficiently and, thus, not have to use the processor so heavily. But in the end, the outside will remain the outside no matter what anyone has ever done to the inside.

Imagine if no one had a quiet cooling system in all the world. Imagine if every computer was just as annoying as mine and everyone has a theory on how to tweak the software to fix the noise. Everyone has fragmented, inefficient, partitioned heart and a flesh that just won't give up on its own desires. The only solution is to "reformat." What basically happens in a reformat is you kill off what was there and install completely new things. The easiest way to fix my loud fan would be to "kill" (get rid of, really) my tower and get a new one. When Christ saves us, he reformats our harddrive, but we still have the loud fan of the flesh. The only way we can get rid of that is through death - but God's not through with us. I'm not through with this tower. It can still serve me quite well with its reformatted harddrive.

Until I can transfer my files (soul) to a MacBook Pro (heavenly body), my tower (flesh) will just have to learn some self control (. . . hack into the BIOS and learn how to turn off the fan).
