Thursday Night Lineup

FlashForward, The Office and Community. One of these things is not like the others. Yesterday FlashFoward brought another LOST cast member into the story in "Scary Monsters and Super Creeps," Michael fell into a "Koi Pond," and Batman visited "Introduction to Statistics." All of these take place around Halloween. Only one of them really hangs on to that theme. One of them is passable while the other two are hilarious. Tired of guessing which one is which? I'll get into it after the jump. (I said it! OMG I said "after the jump!")

FlashForward was starting to get better, and then it just jumped right back into its rut. There are, however, some redeeming parts of this episode. For example, it opens with a rather sexy explanation of quantum physics and Schroedinger's Cat juxtaposed with an exciting "OMG SAVE HER LIFE!" hospital surgery scene that makes you wonder if the patient actually came out of surgery alive or dead even though it seems one way. Then the rest of the episode drags you through the drama it's been working through for the first few episodes... You knew it eventually had to come out in the open, of course, but they pretty much spent the whole episode exploring what is just your basic "it's not what it looks like" drama. And then it suddenly ends on a note thats pretty much just as interesting as the first. This seems to be indicative of what the entire season will be like. Open on an interesting premise, muck around through some drama and end with a bang.

The Office was hilarious as ever. It opened with the warehouse having been turned into a haunted house for trick-or-treating kids and all the employees of Dunder Mifflin dressed up just like last year. This is a hilarious opener that really doesn't have much to do with the rest of the episode, which is what they pretty much do all the time. The episode had more to do with Jim and Michael bonding and Pam and Andy doing sales calls WHEREIN Andy confesses a juicy little tidbit that I'll reveal in the spoiler section.

Community is funnier than The Office. I'm sorry, but it's true. I have never laughed so hard at a TV show as I laugh at Community. I mean, just the fact that they have comedy legend Chevy Chase in the show is an indication of just how great it is. Well... it may also be an indication of how desperate he is for work. It could go either way. BUT THE SHOW IS HILARIOUS! In this episode Jeff has to choose between one of his friend's Halloween parties and one of his professor's. A hot professor. Which really doesn't sound all that funny, but every episode of this show is chalk full of jokes.
