Review
We start on Risa where a couple of aliens from the future materialize and look for Picard. But when they don't find him, they decide to wait around for a while. It's a nice place, after all. Meanwhile, on the Enterprise, Captain Picard is coming back from a mission and he looks really tired. His crew says as much, but he refuses to go on vacation... until everyone harrasses him about it. On his way to Risa, Riker asks him to pick up a Horga'hn, which is a type of idol. And when he beams down, some chick greets him with a makeout session.

This chick's name is Vash. And the reason she got so comfortable with Picard was throw a Ferengi off her trail. A Ferengi named Sovak. Picard is confused, but continues with his vacation. He purchases a Horga'hn from the gift shop and then goes to read a book at which time five different women approach him asking if he "needs anything". The fifth woman explains that the Horga'hn is the idol of sexuality, so in order to get some peace and quiet and not sex, he hides it. It's a good thing, too, because the next person to approach him is a male Ferengi. Definitely not his type at all.
Not waking up to that face.
Sovak tells Picard to hand over a disk that he doesn't have. Picard turns from annoyed to threatening and scares the Ferengi away. Then Vash comes over and explains a thing. When Picard realizes that she's the woman that Sovak was talking about, he tries to leave for his room, but not before Vash hides the disk in his robe. When he gets to his room he finds the aliens from the future. They say they're looking for the Tox Uthat artifact, a powerful weapon which was from their time, but was hidden in their past. According to their records, Picard is supposed to find it on Risa. When Picard agrees to help them, they dematerialize and Picard finds the disk in his robe.

Disk in hand, Picard goes to Vash's room where she's cleaning up a huge mess. Apparently Sovak has searched through her room and she was afraid he was going to search through her own body in the same way, so she hid the disk in Picard's robe. The disk holds the coordinates for where the Tox Uthat is supposed to be. They're both after it, Sovak for profit, Vash for research. After Picard agrees to help her find the Tox Uthat, they head off in search for it. Halfway there, they find a nice cave to have sex in.
♫Sometimes when we touch, the honesty's too much...
Picard is having an awesome time on this vacation. An exciting treasure hunt with a beautiful woman - it's almost as if it was a written fiction. But when morning comes, he's down to business and they go find the cave where the Tox Uthat is supposed to be. There, they break out the shovels and dig... and then the future aliens arrive. They say they're there to witness an important moment in their history. Not to help. And then Sovak arrives. He says he found the coordinates on a copy of Vash's disk and came to take the Tox Uthat once they dig it up. Not to help. So Vash and Picard continue digging... and digging... and digging... and the Tox Uthat isn't there.

The future aliens are discouraged, but they accept it. Which is more than I can say for Sovak. When Picard and Vash give up, he grabs a shovel and keeps digging. Picard and Vash say goodnight to each other, but when Vash leaves, Picard has an idea. The Enterprise arrives at that time to pick him up at his leisure. So Picard tells them to keep transporter code 14 on standby. And then Picard goes to wait for Vash. Vash tries to sneak out, but Picard catches her and tells her to tell him where the Tox Uthat is.
♫...and I have to close my eyes and hide.♫
When she reveals that she'd been hiding it under a random idol the whole time, the aliens from the future pop up again to take it. But she says that these aliens threatened her professor and who's to say if they're good or bad? When Picard asks them to prove their intentions, they draw a pistol and then Picard tells the Enterprise to enact transporter code 14 which destroys the Tox Uthat. That's when the aliens from the future reveal that that's what their history records he'd done all along... so I don't know what they were expecting. Later, Picard and Vash share a heartfelt goodbye, but a starship is no place for Vash. She needs freedom. And Picard's place is on the bridge of the Enterprise. Where he confronts Riker about that damn Horga'hn.

Overall Thoughts
Horga'hn? More like Whore'come, am I right?! *cough* So, yeah, this was a fun episode. It's cool to see Picard fall in love. Just too bad we have no guarantees of ever seeing her again. I suppose that's the nature of love, though, isn't it? Or am I just jaded? Whatever. Good episode! It explores Picard's adventurous nature, and that's something we need after only seeing him on the bridge thus far. Definitely put this one on your essentials list.
